A nearly 5 percent increase tomorrow in the cost of a gallon in the New York area will likely be topped in the coming months, according to a report in today’s NY Post. The state-set price will be $3.54 per gallon, a hike of 16 cents. In the metro area in May, the state-set prices will be $1.82 a half-gallon and $0.94 a quart.

So what else is new? It only means I will have to pay more so my einikel can enjoy her favorite ice cream.
This is the result of government price regulations (as they do with milk.)
And I say $1.82 for a half-gallon milk is “cheap”.
In Quebec the government-set-prices for major necessities are at the highest, including milk, eggs, bread, chicken, meat and etc..
We pay for a 2 liter bottle of milk (3.5 oz. more then a half-gallon) $3.99.
Yes “$3.99”, orange juice is cheaper then that.
… and people are complaining that unleaded gas is $3.19 a gallon? (sounds cheaper than milk or OJ) …
