Police say that Jennifer Herschkowitz of Brooklyn, New York was crossing Whitney Avenue near the Sherman Avenue intersection when she was struck by a motor vehicle. Herschkowitz, 18, is reported to be in critical condition. She is a freshman at Quinnipiac University in Hamden. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamden Police Department at 230-4036.
