The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is about to go underground– into the Washington subway system, to be exact. Beginning May 13, some 20 downtown Metro stations will be emblazoned with posters advertising a June 10 rally and march in Washington protesting “Israel’s illegal military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.”

Initiated by a charity called the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, the 46-by-60-inch posters depict an imposing tank pointing its main firing turret at a child with a schoolbag walking along a dirt road.

CBS Outdoor, the New York-based firm that places in-station advertising for WMATA, at first refused to consider the poster, but eventually relented to pressure from WMATA and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

  1. “esrog, you are probably correct, trust me NK will be there.” They might not show up – I checked the calendar – June 10th is a Sunday – now if it was on Shabbos…

Wouldn’t make a difference if it was shabbos kodesh, they were mechelel shabbos before to come to a washington rally and were photographed in the Daily Slime, even talking near a microphone.

  3. sayitlikeitis – reread what I wrote. I started with a quote from velicher choosid in an earlier post. the point of my post was that if it was Shabbos… they would show up with streimels and tallisim. I thought everybody would understand without actually writing out the words. anyway – we agree.

  4. What they don’t show in the picture is the bomb the little boy is carrying in his backpack to blow up the tank. Have a nice day!

Why do you think this picture is doctored?
Whats wrong with a picture of a Arab boy walking past a parked tank? It is something that occurs every single day in every single country. If anything, the implications are doctored.
