According to the Asbury Park Press, Detectives are investigating last nights murder of Tyreese Jones, a resident of Lakewood, who was shot down the street from his home late last night. No arrests have been made, but detectives from the Lakewood PD and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office were attempting to learn more about the crime this morning. Wonder if his landlord was “fun unzere”
scary!!! a yiddishe area!
where was the shooting again what was the address 100 7th
It is a frum area that has still some non Jews in the area. Most people don’t know but Lakewood has a gang problem. It’s not the first time there was a shooting in Lakewood.
the second time this month there was a shooting in lakewood
YW please research your info. update: shooting occured outside 153 EAST seventh st. sort of in the slum neighborhood but still too close to many heimshe. guys name was tyreese jones Hy”d
This is a wake up call for everyone. All we need (lo olenu) is somebody to be in the wrong place in the wrong time. Being that they are literally in our neighborhood it’s not really that difficult to get in the middle of it. These guys are animals killing is just a part of life for them they will take anybody who gets in the way.” PLEASE DO RESEARCH BEFORE TAKING A TENNANT
ahbeetoobe, E. 7th street is ALL frum. i think you need to research YOUR info
Tyreese was not a tenant. His mother is a homeowner in that area. The comment about “our” neighborhood as in exclusive is disturbing, “our” neighborhood should be inclusive as Tyreese’s family was there before the yiddishe new houses were built.
First i’d like to say that ahbee is right the area is the slum, it doesn’t matter if the properties are owned by frum or not, the reality is most properties in that area are rental ivestments that are owned by frum.
Guess who is in the market for section 8 rentals and if you do not have an idea what that is you need to research this government subsididy. Those mostly who are educationally, economically, domestically, and sometimes mentally, challenged. Frum investers can ask for and usually recieve highly inflated rent to this type. No real background checks needed. Just a government paper gauranteeing amonthly payment. So before we can be safe in our bubble we need to hold the property owners responsible.
Idon’t frown down on financial gain but we must be responsible for one anothers safety.
You know, I was born and raised in Lakewood, New Jersey.
…A wonderful place to grow, it WAS.
In the photographs of the make shift memorial to Tyreese Jones, you can see the home of which I was raised.
I lived there from 1975 to 2001, and my mother finally had the common sense to pick up and move a few months ago, so now the home is up for sale.
I now reside, in PA, right outside of King of Prussia and Philadelphia.
When I heard the terrible news of someone being murdered just two doors from where I lived for over 2 decades, I was in complete shock.
Being this far away from Lakewood, I decided to get the news and facts gathered by the good ole internet.
Low and behold I find THIS SITE.
I thought it was interesting at first, and even read many of the headlines.
But then when I noticed the subliminal hatred and racism, I grew very disgusted with this website and felt the need to leave a comment.
FOR THE RECORD:
1. I know the Jones family, and lived 4 doors down from them for many years. My mother, 2 other families, and the Jones family, are the LAST OF THE HOUSEHOLDS FROM WHEN I GREW UP THAT STILL LIVE THERE, OR OWN HOMES ON EAST 7TH BETWEEN PARK AVENUE, AND WHITEMOR AVE.
2. They all are GOOD families, clean, and trouble free. And have endured the INFESTATION of MEXICANS and LOW INCOME FAMILIES, who have, during the late 1990’s to present, RUN DOWN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
3. UNTIL THE LATE 1980’S THE JEWISH COMMUNITY STAYED ON ONE SIDE OF ROUTE 9. THE SIDE THAT IS TOWARD JACKSON. AND SLOWLY CROSSED OVER DURING THE EARLY 1990’S.
IT WAS THEN, WHEN THE JEWS BEGAN TO PURCHASE HOMES ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF ROUTE 9. RENTING THEM OUT TO ILLEGAL MEXICANS, AND LOW INCOME FAMILIES, LAKEWOOD BECAME MORE ‘SLUM’ LIKE (REFERRING TO THE TERM A PREVIOUS POSTER USED)
I owe my migration to Pennsylvania, and my discomfort with my old neighborhood to the money hungry landlord’s who just LET ANYONE RENT YOUR PROPERTIES.
And for the record, “out of the box” I am not ‘educationally, economically, domestically, or mentally challenged’…nor can I recall any other family that fit those descriptions that lived on east 7th street, PRIOR TO THE MEXICAN AND LOW INCOME INFESTION.
There has been a loss of life, NO MATTER if he was YIDDISH, black, white, or WHATEVER.
Before you all clinch your purses, and walk in fear…OFFER YOUR SYMPATHY….someone has died!
I will be the first here to do so.
Thank you.
I just wanted to say, I was born in raised in Lakewood. I grew up knowing that we are all one, regardless race, religion, disability, or age. Over the years I’ve seen a segregation in our small town. It hurts to see that the Jewish community seperates themselves from everyone. I am eager to learn about their life style, but they seperate themselves from everyone else. I believe that the ignorance that both sides; the jewish community and everyone else, would be put to a halt, there would be no racisim here. I have Jewish neighbors where at first they were a little scared of intermingling, but now our kids play together. They know I would never harm there kids or them, and I hope they wouldn’t let anything happen to my kids. We need to start somewhere! My son asks me, “why don’t they talk to us?” What answer do I have to give to them, we I feel like they look at us like animals. Your kids need to be brought up and understand that even though our religion is different, it does not call for the hate and seperation. We can actually learn alot from each other. But with Lakewood being as small as it is, we need to come together to stop this gang violence that we have. The Jewish, the Christians, the black, the white, the hispanics, everyone. We all live here and it’s not right to sterotype everyone. Not all black and hispanic people are poor, and are illiterate and criminals, just like not all Jewish people are cheap, ignorant, and drive bad. I just want to say that we need to come together and get over this ignorance that we have. I know there is a lot of good Jews, but reading some of these comments just hurts to know that there are people that look at our community in that way. This is where we live, where our kids live and we need to improve it.
