When Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) was recently contacted by a constituent about tracking down a set of tefillin lost at JFK airport, Hikind was informed by NYPD that they had in their possession another lost tallis bag which held two sets of tefillin and are embroidered with the name in Hebrew: “Aaron Tzvi Hakohen Katz.”
“How fortunate my office is, to now have become involved in reuniting another individual with his lost tefillin, and pairing the fulfillment of the mitzvah of hashavas aveidah. The tefillin in NYPD custody has been languishing there for some time, unclaimed, and when we called to inquire about our constituent’s tefillin, the NYPD informed us that they were holding another set of unclaimed tefillin, and they had no idea whom to turn to to return the lost property.” Hikind immediately told the NYPD that he would take care of notifying the public.
“Somewhere out there Mr. Katz thinks that his tefillin may be gone forever. Thanks to the NYPD they are secure and are waiting for Mr. Katz to claim them. With the public’s help, we can give this story a happy ending and reunite Aaron Tzvi with his precious tefillin.”
For additional information or to inquire about the tefillin, please contact the office of Assemblyman Dov Hikind at 718-853-9616.

Thank you, Assemblyman Hikind for all you do for klal yisroel.
Thank you, YW Editor, for all you do for Klal Yisroel.
GOod Job mr. Hikind
Think Straight is right! Who would know about this if not for yeshiva world. This is up there with the pre-pesach chessed. Mr. Hikind does it for publicity and yeshiva world is a screen-name. REAL CHESSED!
If the bags contains two set of teffilin they more then likely it is from a chasidic individual. If someone can look at the tallis you can sometimes identify the sect bythe Atara or for chabad by the Tzitisis etc
It make help in narrowing down which community to look in for the owner
Vesher. Don’t say Hikind does it for publicity. That’s not nice. Someone does something good and you look to criticize his intentions? Dov Hikind has helped out a lot of people and he’s doing a great job!
who cares why mr hikind or anyone else does chesed ? that’s their business. the main thing is that the chesed is done and let’s give them credit for that. unfortunately, too many people don’t do enough chesed because of so called good intentions.
I think both need compliments Yw and Dov. Without knocking anybody.
