The UN ambassadors of China and Japan attended a dinner hosted in New York City by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, while the USA, UK, France and Russia opted to send lower level representatives, but nonetheless, were in attendance.

The dinner came as Iran continues its diplomatic offensive, announcing Tehran’s right to continue its nuclear program, in continued defiance of the UN and international community. This sentiment was echoed by Japanese Ambassador Yukio Takasu, who stated the nuclear program is peaceful as indicated by Iranian officials.
