NYC Mayor Bloomberg will visit London next week to see their extensive security camera system, the AP reports.

The high-tech surveillance program is called “ring of steel”, and according to the report was the “inspiration” for NYC’s 3,000 CCTV system currently being installed in Lower Manhattan.

Bloomberg is scheduled to travel to Berlin next Tuesday, and it was announced today that the mayor had added the London visit to his itinerary.

A camera system is currently being planned for the Midtown Manhattan area.
