Boastful Bomber Wannabe Keeps Talking

He’s already admitted to driving a bomb-filled car into Times Square, and now the Daily News reports that Faisal Shahzad is boasting about his connections to terrorist groups.

It is being reported that Shahzad has waived his right to attorney, and claims to have been meeting or e-mailing with the man that attempted to bomb a plane X-Mas Day, as well as a Muslim cleric with terrorist ties.

While such connections have not been verified, federal agents are reportedly tracking a “money courier” who helped to finance the plot.

It took just 53 hours to arrest Faisal Shahzad, who was taken into custody after he was already on board a plane for Dubai.

Shahzad still has yet to appear in court, because authorities say he’s been talking – a lot.

And they are said to be closing in on the suspected money courier – who they believe helped Shahzad pay for the SUV, purchased with thirteen 100 dollar bills, as well as the explosives which he is seen purchasing on surveillance video from the store in Pennsylvania.

“We’re going to take a serious look at it,” said Dennis McDonough, the National Security Council Chief of Staff. “Both in terms of what it tells us about what he did, but also, more importantly…what it tells us about what others might be doing.”

Investigators are also trying to trace Shahzad’s movements over the last several years.

Sources tell CBS News that Shahzad has been the subject of multiple law enforcement investigations, and in 2004 raised red flags with the Joint Terrorism Task force when he entered the country with $80,000 in cash.

Still, he was allowed to become a naturalized U.S. citizen – one that now admits to building a bomb, and driving it into the heart of Times Square.

Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa wants to know a lot more about the naturalization process, and how Shahzad was able to become a citizen despite such scrutiny. He has asked the Department of Homeland Security for Shahzad’s alien file, which includes his Visa and additional personal information.

  1. The government is too busy to notice the unimportant details of Faisal Shahzad’s activities. Their focus is on Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin.

  2. There is a provision of Sharia Law that states that “believers” are obligated to lie. What is the use of Mirandizing him if he is going to lie and lie?
