According to Fox News, Pakistani authorities say they’ve arrested a man in Karachi in connection with the failed Times Square car bombing. Further details were unavailable.
Meanwhile, CNN reports that The Pakistani-American suspect in the Times Square bombing attempt has a Karachi identification card, a document that shows Pakistani residency, and the suspect’s family is from northwestern Pakistan.
Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik was notified about the arrest of Faisal Shahzad on Tuesday morning by the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan and said his government will cooperate with the United States government in the investigation.
The northwestern Pakistan region is a stronghold of militants and jihadis who have been targeted by U.S. drone strikes.
UPDATED 12:18PM EST: Between four and eight people have been taken into custody for questioning in Pakistan in connection with the investigation of the Times Square bombing attempt, sources told CBS News.
Authorities are not saying who the potential suspects are or where they are being held, but they say there were raids Monday night and Tuesday morning in different locations. Some of them reportedly may be related to suspect Fasial Shahzad, the Pakistani-born U.S. citizen who was arrested overnight in New York.
Also, a man was arrested in Karachi for his connection to the bombing attempt, Pakistani intelligence sources told Fox News.
