What can you do with stoeln Sifrai Torah? Who will ever buy it?
Why dont they have a SAFE!
Unotnately, there is a black market where sifrei Torah and the like can be sold. My question is, did they have tracking ID?
I believe they need to be “ransomed” and the thieves know that.
Alternately; They could theoretically, find their way into the hands of someone who no one can ‘prove’, had anything to do with their theft.
That person somehow just “has them” and would
‘be glad’ to sell them back for ‘a reasonable price’.
I may be wrong, but if an individual is in possession of a stolen item, the police can confiscate the item. If the individual has knowledge of the theft, he can be prosecuted. If the individual does not have knowledge of the theft, he can “Return” the item and avoid prosecution. This is only if there is a way to prove that these are “The” stolen items.
#2, they did have a safe. either it was unlocked, or they broke in to it.
