Despite months of protests from local elected officials and residents, the Obama administration is still not ruling out having New York serve as a venue for the September 11th terror trials.
While many media reports have said that President Barack Obama has decided not to hold the trials in New York, no one in the administration has said that publicly.
While testifying before a U.S. Senate hearing Wednesday, Attorney General Eric Holder once again said that no decision has been made and that any announcement about the trials of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his codefendants could still be weeks away.
“New York is not off the table as a place where they can be tried,” Holder said. “We have to take in to consideration the concerns that have raised by local officials and the community in New York City.”
Senator Charles Schumer was quick to respond to Holder’s statement saying in part, “We know the administration is not going to hold the trial in New York. They should just say it already.”
The initial decision to hold the trials in New York drew strong opposition from Mayor Michael Bloomberg and community leaders.

Mr. Attorney General, please do us a favor; if you want these trials so much in a civilian court, build your own kangaroo court in your very own backyard!
