Following the desecration of hundreds of graves at Jewish cemeteries and wave after wave of hoax bomb threats against Jewish community centers and day schools around the nation, Muslim veterans are offering their support and vow to protect these places of worship.
“I’m a #MuslimMarine in Chicagoland area. If you synagogue or Jewish cemetery needs someone to stand guard, count me in. Islam requires it,” one such veteran tweeted on Monday.
Tayyid Rashid, a 40-year-old former member of the Marine Corps, behind the tweet told .mic: “As I watch this horrible thing unfold here, I felt terrible about what happened in St. Louis and this heinous event in Philadelphia. I was moved to tears. This is absolutely not right.”
The tweet has gone viral and has prompted other American Muslims to offer their support to the Jewish community.

I’m confused, I thought Islam requires to kill all Jews.
He is vowing to protect a cemetery. He first wants to fill it up. Islam requires it.
#1 For the vast majority of history Jew fared better under Islam than under Christianity. Jews lived peacefully in Muslim lands for hundreds of years. Obviously, Islam does not require its adherents to kill Jews.
There are lots of different versions of Islam. They basically range from the two opposite sides of the spectrum.
#3: I see you know as much about Islam as you do about Judaism.
I’ll make it simple for you. There are two kinds of Islam. One, the one that is prevalent among most Muslims today, wants to kill Jews now.
The other, which was ascendant in earlier periods of history, merely wants to make Jews subservient now, preferring to put off killing them until later.
Get it?
#5 Your knowledge of Islam is apparently as deep and accurate as your knowledge Judaism.
#5) “I’ll make it simple for you.” EW – Where do you get your great knowledge of Islam from? What sources do you draw on? Have you read Islamic texts or scholarly works on Islam? Do you know many Muslims?
Reb Avrohom Ben Harambam praises Sufi Islam in his Sefer Hamspik. The Rambam had respect for and quoted al-Farabi and Averroes in his Moreh Nevuchim. Many other Rishonim do the same. Rav Samson Raphael Hirsch credits Muslim philosophers with developing the philosophical concept of Yichud Haboreh.
To state that Islam was “merely prefer putting off the killing of Jews until later” is plainly false. Jews were accorded rights and lived peacefully in Muslim countries. Even today Jews are protected and free to practice Judaism in Muslim countries such as Morrocco. And while it is true that some Muslim sects such as the Almohads abused Jews that were under their control they were the historical exception and not the rule.
