Lakewood, NJ – Despite the inclement weather, pesach preparations were at full steam as the residents of Lakewood went about shopping, cleaning, selling, and burning their Chometz in honor of yom tov. Be it buying new clothes for yom tov, cleaning out cars, attending siyumim, the spirit of chag hamatozs is in the air, rain or no rain. Hundreds of people gathered in the rain to burn the chometz at the Bais Yaakov Elementary, BMG, and the Lakewood Cheder. However, some people did not feel like going out in the rain to burn their chometz and decided to do it at their houses, to the frustration of the Lakewood Fire Department.

Eretz Yisroel – As the bagel shops and pizzerias were just starting to prepare their erev pesach fare on the East Coast, YWN Israel joined HaRav Zev Leff, Mora D’Asra of Moshav Matityahu and Rosh HaYeshiva of Yeshiva Gedolah Matisyahu, as he sold chometz on behalf of his and other kehilos followed by the burning of the chometz. In Yerushalayim, people were baking their last-minute matzahs.
