2:20PM EST: Peter Kauffmann, who was scheduled to testify to the Attorney General’s investigators today, has resigned. Kauffmann was featured prominently in the Commission on Public Integrity’s findings about Gov. David Paterson’s solicitation of Yankees tickets — from the evidence, Kauffmann appears to have been grievously misled by Paterson and his top aide, David Johnson.
Here’s Kauffmann’s statement:
“I have been honored to serve the people of New York during a difficult time in our state’s history. As a former officer in the United States Navy, integrity and commitment to public service are values I take seriously. Unfortunately, as recent developments have come to light, I cannot in good conscience continue in my current position. I have notified the Governor that I am resigning as Director of Communications.
“Today will be my last day in the Executive Chamber. This will be the extent of my comments at this point. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any further questions.”

Uh Mr. Governor, I see you are following Eliot Spitzer’s advice on how to create a scandal. You are doing a great job!
Anybody else smell Cinton/Obama me’halaych in this whole zach?
Why is everyone so stunned by the fact that politician’s and their entourages are corrupt? What would be stunning is to find a politician who is untarnished! Happy hunting!!
But 61% of New York does not want him to resign; the Obama-O.J. syndrome once again will be the factor that will elect a lying incompetent.
Why is it so hard for NY to have a normal HONEST law abiding governor?
Is it only crooks and philanderers that run for public office in NY?
WellInformedYid, the reason why New York State can get honest politicians is because of one party rule. Until we are willing to elect CONSERVATIVE Republicans to balance the pigs and thugs of the Democrat Party, nothing will change!
