The NJ Star Ledger reports: U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, New Jersey’s 86-year-old senior senator, was diagnosed with treatable stomach cancer in the last 24 hours and will begin chemotherapy today.
The Democrat still plans to finish out his current term – his fifth in the Senate – and seek re-election in 2014.
“This doesn’t change any of that,” Lautenberg’s chief aide, Dan Katz, said of the senator’s political plans. “After he receives his treatment, back to normal.”
Moments ago, Lautenberg’s office issued a statement from the senator’s oncologist, James F. Holland, saying:
“We expect a full and complete recovery for Senator Lautenberg. The senator will be treated with chemotherapy administered approximately every three weeks. We anticipate that he will receive between six and eight treatments, and in between treatments, the senator is expected to be back at work in the Senate.”
Lautenberg took ill Monday while at home in Cliffside Park. He fell down and phoned his doctor and an ambulance. The senator directed the ambulance to transport him to Manhattan for treatment at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he has been hospitalized ever since. Lautenberg never lost consciousness, his aides said.
Doctors quickly determined that Lautenberg had fallen due to blood loss from a bleeding ulcer. The bleeding was stopped during an endoscopy. Additional pathology tests revealed the ulcer was caused by a b-cell lymphoma of the stomach.
STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF SENATOR LAUTENBERG
“After several days of hospitalization and testing, Senator Lautenberg’s doctors have diagnosed that he has a B-Cell Lymphoma of the stomach. This is a curable tumor, and will require treatment over the next few months.
“The Senator is under the care of Dr. James F. Holland and Dr. Martin Goldman of Mount Sinai Medical Center.”

Refuah Sheleimah
Refuah Shelayma!
Yes he should have a Refuah Sheleimah.
I did not like him or his anti American liberal politics at all in the least.
But I do not wish suffering on anyone.
I do hope that he thinks about the modern medical techniques the well trained and highly skilled dooctors will use to try and cure him and how they might disappear if his fellow liberals finish destroying the best medical health care system in the world, in order to have their “Socialist utopia”.
I hope he fully recovers and understands that it was the capitalist system he has always tried to ruin and legislate against, that cured him.
As liberal as he is,when he owned ADP he made sure to hire many frum yidden, among them Kollel wives, and by all accounts he was a great boss. He allowed many of the Kollel/Rebbi wives to work from home with an internet hookup so they should be home when their children come home from school.
And according to the Obama healthcare plan, they will look at his age (86), decide he lived a long enough life, and they will treat him with aspirin.
hereorthere,
Ruin the capitalist system? Why, he was the CEO of ADP, a mutibillion dollar company that continues to thrive!
And his medical care is indeed “socialist” — as a government employee who is also eligible for Medicare he will be getting care that you would deny 30 million Americans. And care not provided by capitalist health insurers or for-profit hospitals.
can we find out his hebrew name
Charliehall;
Most if not all CEO’s are big liberals who support everything the Democrat party does.
How would I be denying anything to anyone?
Let those without health care all become Senators.
Or better yet force senators and all other government officials have to live under whatever plan, they intend to force on the rest of us.
And it’s not 30 million, once you stop counting illegal aliens for example that number is cut more then in half and by the time you stop counting redundencies such as those who have some kind of plan who would have readily switched to a ‘government’ plan and all others who are niot truly ‘without’ health care plans, the number goes down to something like 4 million or so.
And if all business laws and regulations were rolled back to what they were 180 years ago our taxes and other fees we pay to thegovernment would be 1/3 or less what they are now and all that extra money in our pockets would easily pay for the health care that would be far cheaper once they did not have big government (taxpayer forced at gunpoint) pockets to dig into.
Besides that it says nothing in the Constitution that I have to be impoverished to support someone elses health care.
And finally even the liberals have admitted that their plan will not cover everyone.
It will not even cover enouigh people to make a big difference between those who do not ahve health care now and those would would be without under their corrupt plan.

Again you are spreading the BIG LIE. mr G, lately of Nazi Germany would be proud.
I believe Senator Lautenberg’s Hebrew name is Feivel ben Malkah. I was on the Senator’s staff for 3 years in the ’80s, and although I didn’t always agree with his positions even then, I found him to be simply a mensch. I am now a BT and avreich living in Israel and still look back fondly to the time when I worked and campaigned for him. I wish Feivel ben Malkah a refuah shlaima.
