Brooklyn – New York City Council candidate and education advocate, David G. Greenfield was endorsed today by US Senator Joseph Lieberman. Greenfield, an experienced attorney and acclaimed community advocate, is running in the 44th Council District to replace Councilman Simcha Felder. Senator Lieberman, an influential member of the US Senate and a staunch supporter of Israel, has been a Presidential and a Vice Presidential Candidate, as well as a US Senator from the State of Connecticut since 1988. Greenfield worked as Deputy Finance Director for Senator Lieberman’s 2004 Presidential campaign.
“I have known David Greenfield for over ten years and have seen him grow from a talented political staffer to an effective community advocate. David’s independence and persistence is what makes him such an effective advocate for his community,” said Senator Lieberman.
“Senator Lieberman is an independent leader in the US Senate. He ignores party politics and what’s politically expedient, and fights for what’s best for his constituents,” said Greenfield. “I will strive to be the kind of independent leader in City Hall that Senator Lieberman has been in Washington DC.”
“David Greenfield represents the finest of the next generation of political leaders. His grasp of public policy and understanding of real-world politics is remarkable. In short, David Greenfield knows how to get things done,” added Lieberman.
In addition to the support of Senator Lieberman, Greenfield has also received the endorsements of a number of other prominent elected officials, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor Ed Koch, New York State Senators Carl Kruger and Martin Golden, and Councilmen Vincent Gentile, Michael Nelson, Domenic Recchia, and Lewis Fidler. Greenfield has also received widespread support from prominent members of every ethnic community in the diverse 44th Council District, including the Chasidic, Ashkenaz, Sephardic & Catholic communities.

is YWN mr greenfields spokesman? Its starting to seem that way
I don’t know how much a NYC counsel seat can affect Israel in any way. What I do know is that most serious Askonim that actually did something for the Jewish community support Joe Lazar.
YWN seems to be reporting the facts as they occur. tina18- I do not see your post on the page describing Joe Lazar’s endorsements!!
I think it is time that we realize that David Greenfield is the best thing that can happen for the 44th district. He is so much more qualified for the position and YWN gets 2 thumbs up for reporting the facts about David Greenfield, his experience and political expertise.
what does Joe have to do with NYC politics?
Re Comment 4: Joe have nothing with NY politics, and BP also have nothing with NY politics. Hikind and Silver wants we shall sell our interests for NY and their politics.
We should vote for us, for our kids, for struggling families. Hikind and Silver are trying to silence the wave Greenfield started, to bring more assistance for families going broke from the huge tuition costs. Joe Liberman is a real public servant, and made a kidush Hashem with his steadfast Yiddishkeit, principals and real work to assist people.
His endorsement means a lot for me.
Joe Lazar, while a very nice guy, is just a political puppet with no vision or ideas.
David Greenfeld is a man with ideas, and will fight for what he believes is best for our community without regard to politics.
Its time to end the Hikind stronghold on Boro Park. Yes Hikind has delivered for us, but its time for a change.
Although I have much respect for Joe Lieberman, and met him personally I don’t think his endorsement here is relevant.
The more Yeshivish & Chasidishe oilam is voting for Joe Lazar & the Modern Orthodox for David Greenfield that is a ratio of like 73% to 27% (estimation of a community askan) so it looks as if Lazar is gonna sweep this election, and Greenfield is gonna come out looking quite dumb.
Greenfield should stop getting endorsements from politicians and get some from rabbonim there vote is what matters in our district not playing politics It just shows where your interests are. I wounder how much of Greenfield’s soul he already sold for these 2 endorsements. Rabbosi what do the rabbonim not the politics say!!!!
seem like all rabonim are afraid of mr heikind.
but for the people of the district are you realy going to vote for heikind again ?
time for heikind to retire.
please do the jewish world . clalyisroel a favor and send a messege to mr heikind that his time is up and mafia tactics has to finish.
I don’t know if an endorsement from Lieberman is such a good thing these days.
If the Yeshivos are afraid its because he has done more for them obviously than any one else. I dont see it as afraid I see it as Hakoros Hatov I hope Dov can continue for another 25 Years
