Getting around City streets on foot will be treacherous and messy as giant pools of slush have accumulated at nearly every corner.
Some New Yorkers on Wednesday met the challenge successfully, while others struggled. Although the snow has stopped falling, the cleanup effort is only beginning, and pedestrians and commuters are bound to face difficulties with slush, ice and frozen side walks and roadways. Be careful out there today!
All the plowed snow on the city streets has turned into slush on almost every street corner. Walking around in the five boroughs will be messy.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Wednesday that the City’s Sanitation Department had worked diligently and hadn’t missed a street, even the small side streets.
Local businesses and home owners are being required to clean the area in front of their property or face a $100 fine.
Beware of slick points on the roads and side walks. Black ice will be common and extremely dangerous.
