The Vaad HaRabbonim Le’Inyanei Tzedaka in Eretz Yisrael has tried a novel idea, one that netted a cool 150,000 € — the price paid for the letter signed by Gedolei Yisrael Shlita. Officials decided that instead of filing the letter as was done in the past, they would try to see if the original document with signatures from gedolim could enlist funds for tzedaka, resulting in a major contribution, one that exceeded their expectations.
A givir in Rova 17 of France paid the handsome sum, with Vaad officials explaining the gentleman apparently realizes the significance of a handwritten letter from Rav Michal Yehuda Lefkowitz Shlita, which is also signed by HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Aaron Leib Shteinman Shlita.
