As you all know, we at YWN believe that everyone should have the opportunity to communicate to you. As a result, we printed a press release – in good faith – from retired civil servant Joe Lazar which claimed support from several elected officials including Senator Kevin Parker. Apparently, Mr. Lazar’s release was not true and Mr. Lazar never got the Senator’s endorsement. Now the Senator is upset at YWN. Please see Senator Parker’s release below.

Brooklyn, NY- State Senator Kevin Parker has pledged to stay neutral in the 44th District City Council race to succeed Simcha Felder between Joe Lazar and David Greenfield. Contrary to an article posted in the Sunday, January 31, 2010 Yeshiva World Newspaper, which claims Senator Parker has not endorsed Joe Lazar. Senator Parker issues this statement:
“These are two strong candidates running, and that’s a good and healthy thing for Boro Park. However, my primary duty now is to concentrate on serving the people of the 21st District,” said Senator Parker. “Whichever candidate wins, I look forward to developing a solid working relationship with them in our shared goal of serving the people of the 44th District.”
Senator Kevin Parker represents an ethnically diverse community in the 21st District including: Flatbush, East Flatbush, Midwood, Ditmas Park, Kensington and Borough Park.

This doesn’t surpise me at all. Lazar is Dov’s puppet and Dov will do anything to crush Greenfield.
All his “endorsements”are from those Hikind strong armed.
If this article is true, how can I trust Lazar’s press release on all the other endorsments?
His flyers show a bunch of people that are endorsing him, are those pictures true too? Did these people endorse him?
Kevin Parker’s endorsement is totally useless, and may influence half a dozen voters at most. Kevin has enough troubles of his own right now and should stay out of this race anyway.
This does not surpise me. Thats why I rejoiced upon hearing that Greenfield announced his run for office. Finally someone to take on the Hikind machine. A politician has to be someone who is here to serve us people not his own interests or the machine’s, or Dov Hikind’s. How come Lazar refuses to debate Greenfield. Let Lazar take the challenge and partake in a live debate on the issues in a assembly hall in Boro Park or Flatbush and let the people decide for themselves.
But the person whos is behind this is Hikind.
HIKIND HAS PRESSURED THE AGUDA THAT UNLESS THEY GET THE YESHIVOS TO BACK HIS CANDIDATE, HE WILL NOT DELIVER ONE MORE PENNY TO THEM. THIS AFTER HIM BEING MEVAZE THE GEDOLIM AND THE AGUDA ONHIS RADIO SHOW WITH RESPECT TO THE MARKEY BILL AND HIS INFLATED CLAIMS OF MOLESTATION.
Hikind claims that Joe Lazar has brought MILLIONS into the community “mosdos” over the past years. Why can’t the yeshivos make payroll?

Parker’s endorsement can only make things worse. Parker is the one you don’t wanna get to close to because you can get beaten. Parker is an old criminal that the orthodox Jews have to represent them in Albany thanks to Hikind’s bias against Felder. Well, Joe good to hear that Parker isn’t one of yours but as long as you’ve got his good old friend and acquaintance Dov Hikind on your bandwagon you can forget about my vote.

yosse, Dov Hikind was investigated by the federal Justice Department for financial improprieties with the old COJO of Boro Park. The case was dropped but Rudy Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor himself said at the time that the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of charges was in his words “…highly irregular.”

I don’t live in NY. I happen to know for a fact about all the chesed that Dov Hikind does for so many in the frum community as well as the general public.
I guess the term “Am Keshei Oref” (a stiff necked people) applies in many ways.

Being investigated is not the same as being convicted. A person is still innocent until proven gui;ty. Mr. Giuliani’s comment ios totally worthless as it is mere political blathering. As I recall, he was trying to become mayor at the time.
BTW, I am no lover of Mr Hikind either.
drugcommish, I’m still trying to find ANYTHING good about Dov, but I can’t. I promise you, hadn’t he been an orthodox-Jewish politician in a heavily orthodox Jewish district then he would’ve been ousted long ago. The only thing Dov has on his record is, strong-arming instituions, organizations and Mosdos to jump after him in order to recieve grants and that comes only after recognizing him or honoring him publicly. And let’s not forget, he’s a strong supporter of Israel. That means denouncing Ahmadinjad, demanding explanations from Clinton, blocking UN construction etc. things that only brings media attention. Oh, and let’s not forget, he spoke against Toeva on the assembly floor right before the vote which was nothing but symbolic as he did nothing to stop it. The only thing he did do was, go around and spat dirt at his constituence. Washing out dirty laundry on public radio and announcing that we are racists… Yes, what I’d like to see is something that Dov wouldn’t like to hear. We want someone like Simcha Felder. Someone that knows the Mishne “Emor Me’at V’Asey Harbey”. Someone that actually gets things done, passes effective legislation. We are no less than anyone out there that wants democracy and no strong-arming dictatorship.

I saw this same exact press release on other news websites too and I even saw Parker’s endorsement listed on your website (until it was scrapped). Does Hikind & company also lead the crusade against the fair and balanced media as the Obama administration has undertaken?
Joe Lazar is a nice guy, & maybe a viable good candidate. But, that’s not the issue here. The issue is about Hikind’s hatred for Greenfield.
Hikind acts like a mafia boss & uses his own bias to endorse candidates. David Greenfield has been a very active advocate for the heimishe oilom, & has proven himself to be strong leader. The only reason Hikind is endorsing Lazar, is because he knows Greenfield (who used to be Hikind chief of staff) will not be his puppet. He didn’t endorse felder for the same reason. It’s about time for Hikind to go home & play big dady with his family, instead of playing big dady with the whole community. The early take, seems that the oilom is starting to see through Hikind’s motives, & Grennfield will win big time.

Moose613 Mr. Giuliani was already mayor. He was talking from the viewpoint as a former federal prosecutor. He was and still is extremely familiar with the “system”. He was not just commenting as mere political blathering as you incorrectly cite.

At my age, I sometimes have trouble with timelines. I assume you are correct and he was mayor when he said that. If so, it si even more disturbing since he was definitely NOT part of the investigation, but merely an observer.
