YWN regrets to inform you of the passing of two of the oldest Munkatcher Chassidim – one 100, and one 98 – over Shabbos.

1) YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Harav Hachosid Reb Ahron Hakohen Rothman zt”l at the age of 98. Reb Ahron was a talmid muvhak of the Minchas Eluzar of Munkatch and was zoche to be mekabel many years of torah and chasidus which remained with him until his last day.

He would say that a day does not pass in which he doesn’t wake up and see the Minchas Eluzar by modeh ani. After the war he lived in Los Angeles, but kept a close connection with the Munkatcher Rebbe shlita, and hosted the Rebbe during his visits to California.

Approximately 20 years ago, Reb Ahron moved to Boro Park where he became one of the most respected mispallelim in the Munkatcher Bais Medrash. He had a chazoko for many years to never miss a tefillas mincha and mariv in the minyan of the Munkatcher Rebbe shlita.

The Levaya will take place in front of the Munkatcher Bais Medrash in Boro Park (today) Sunday morning at 10:30.

2) YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Reb Moshe Binyomin Ostreicher Z”L, of Rego Park, Queens at the age of 100. R’ Moshe Binyomin was a Munkatcher Chossid from the “alter heim“.

The Ostreicher family was from the most respected families in Munkatch and served as roshei kehilla.

As soon as Munkatcher chassidus began to be established in America, Reb Moshe Binyumin took an active role in helping finance and establish the kehilla and stood at the Rebbe Shlita’s side in all his holy endeavors. The Aron Kodesh at the center of the Munkatcher Chasidus based in Boro Park was dedicated by Reb Moshe Binyomin in memory of his parents.

The Levaya will take place in front of the Munkatcher Beis Medrash at 4706 14th Avenue in Boro Park today, Sunday afternoon at 2:30PM.

The Kevurah will take place at the Cemetery of the Munkatcher Kehilla in Deans, N.J.
