1:00PM EST: A small plane made an emergency landing just moments ago in the Staten Island Sanitation Landfill (Old Fresh Kills Landfill) – aside the West Shore Expressway.

According to reports, the plane took off from Newark Airport, and dropped off of radar shortly after making a distress call.

The SkyFoxHD Chopper reporting live from the scene says that the aircraft appeared to be in good shape after its emergency landing.

All occupants were out of the aircraft – which is reported to be a “piper cub” – and no injuries have been reported.

The plane was towing a “banner”, which was found shortly after the landing stuck onto a tree near the landfill.
