A moderate magnitude 4.2 earthquake occured in Santa Clara County near Milpitas on Thursday morning — the second quake to occur in the area over a 12-hour period.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the latest quake occured at 10:09 a.m., with the epicenter about 6 miles east-northeast of Milpitas and 11 miles north-northeast of San Jose City Hall.
It had a depth of 5.6 miles, according to the USGS.
Thursday’s quake followed a smaller magnitude 2.8 quake that struck late Wednesday night.
According to the USGS, that earthquake occured shortly after 11 p.m. and had a depth of 5.1 miles.
The night quake was centered about 8 miles southeast of Milpitas and 9 miles east-northeast of San Jose City Hall.

Chushuva yid – if it was for 1 second at a magnitude of 4.2 I doubt most people even felt it, let alone got hurt.
