Airplane Bomb Suspect Indicted


ub.jpgThe suspect in the failed Christmas Day bombing of a U.S. airliner faces a six-count federal indictment issued Wednesday, including an attempt to murder the other 289 people aboard.

A federal grand jury indicted Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab on charges of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction; attempted murder within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; willful attempt to destroy and wreck an aircraft within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; willfully placing a destructive device in, upon and in proximity to an aircraft within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; and two counts of possession of a firearm/destructive in furtherance of a crime of violence.

If convicted, the 23-year-old Nigerian national faces a sentence of life in prison.

  1. No need to charge him with anything such as being a terrorist, which would let him argue he’s a political prisoner. While the government is allowed to torture him, there’s nothing to prevent his fellow prisoners (and it turns out most inmates are good red blooded patriotic Americans). Given that he’s from a very upper class background, he might cut a deal in order to get better treatment.

    I hope they at least mean “Life without parole”!

  3. He needs to be executed. These murderers are not deterred with bureaucracy. Because of that fact, others in the shadows still make their evil plans.
