Flatbush Residents awoke on Shabbos morning to find that their quiet residential neighborhood had swastikas painted on numerous homes and two shuls, but thanks to the diligent and quick detective work by the NYPD, an arrest was made.
Sources tell YWN that sometime during the night on Friday night, swastikas were painted on multiple houses in the area of East 18th Street all the way from Avenue I until Avenue M. Additionally, two Shuls were defaced – one of them the Veretzky Mesivta on East 18th between Ave L, and another Shul on that same street.
Detectives from the NYPD’s 70th Pct were on the scene immediately after the crime was noticed, and called for additional assistance from the NYPD Bias Crime Unit.
After an intense investigation, police arrested a local teenager on Shabbos afternoon, and charged him with “Hate Crimes, Aggravated Harassment”.
The 70th pct tells YWN that there is nothing for the community to be concerned about, and believe that this was just an isolated incident.
