President Obama jetted into New Jersey Wednesday night to deliver a message to recession-battered voters: Gov. Jon Corzine feels your pain.
“I know these are challenging times, and Jon knows these are challenging times,” Obama said of the Democratic Corzine, a former head of Wall Street titan Goldman Sachs.
“I know folks are hurting,” Obama added. “But I also know this – for the past four years you’ve had an honorable man at the helm of this state, during one of the most difficult periods in its history.”
The President’s acknowledgment of hard times – in a state with the highest property taxes in the nation and the worst unemployment in the Northeast – was quickly seized upon by Corzine’s Republican opponent, Chris Christie.
“The president is right, these are awful times in New Jersey,” the former U.S. Attorney told CNN. “I just think Jon Corzine is not the solution.”
Obama last stumped for Corzine in July, when he trailed Christie by double digits. Since then, Corzine has clawed his way back into a tie, recent polls show.

“Obama: ‘Governor Corzine An Honorable Man’” -Well, that’s good enough for me! I’m gonna vote for Christie! Oy l’rasha, v’oy l’shchayno.
Actually, most politicians (and most people) are quite honorable. Most people would prefer that the leaders they elect were competent as well. Praising him for being no more than honorable is feint praise.
Will the real akuperma please stand up! I feel like that I am reading posts from five different akupermas.
Of course Obama would praise him. The President and the rest of the Democratic National Committee are going coniptions if New Jersey elects a Republican governor.
And let’s stop all of the wise cracks of Chris Christie’s weight. Howard Taft became not only President but afterwards Chief Justice on the Supreme Court the only President to have accomplished that. A special bathtub had to be installed to accomodate Taft who weighed over 400 pounds!
No, I am not saying that Chris Christie is presidential material.
Now, I wonder what I will be accused of now….
Obama: ‘Governor Corzine An Honorable Man’
being corrupt in new jersey is now called being honorable by this president. SO PLEASE VOTE FOR CHRIS CHRISTIE HE IS A GOOD MAN NOT CORRUPT OR HONORABLE
Neither one is honorable. They are both self-serving and not public serving. The President and the Governor; what kind of clowns do we have running things? Where ARE the honorable, educated, thoughtful, and reasonable citizens and why dont they run for public office?
Everybody knows that the president always tells the truth…
ploniebenplonie, from which planet have you been living on since January 20th, 2009?
I would like to point out either the arrogance of the president or the foolishness of the Corzine campaign in reference to the billboards in NJ which bear the Obama and Corzine.
When one looks at the billboard the Obama is in the forefront (uhn ah jacket, of course) and Corzine is in the background (with a jacket, of course). The billboard proudly claims, “OBAMA CORZINE.”
I ask you, those who have seen it and those who havent, are they telling us that Corzine follows whatever Obama does? Are they telling us that Corzine will be the Veep as soon as Hoof In Mouth Biden says another stupid thing? What are they telling us?
Either way es shtinkt!
