Norman Rosenbaum Offers Aid To Rush Limbaugh In Battle With Al Sharpton

sharru1.jpgThe feud between Rush Limbaugh and the Rev. Al Sharpton has drawn in the brother of Crown Heights riot victim Yankel Rosenbaum, who called Sharpton a “racist bigot” Sunday.

Norman Rosenbaum, whose 29-year-old brother was killed during the riot, pledged to do “whatever I can” to help Limbaugh if Sharpton goes through with his threat to sue.

Sharpton has taken umbrage with Limbaugh’s Saturday Op-Ed in The Wall Street Journal, which accused him of playing a “leading role” in the 1991 riots, and is threatening a lawsuit.

“He was a divisive, old-fashioned, racist bigot,” Rosenbaum said from his home in Australia, while at the same time admitting that he didn’t “spark the riots.”

The feud with Limbaugh began when Sharpton criticized his involvement with an investment group trying to buy the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was booted by the other investors last week.

Sharpton said Rosenbaum had “every right to insult me,” but added that no one “has a right to accuse me of inciting a riot.”

  1. Whatever one may think of the tactics Sharpton employs, it is shtuss to say he had anything to to do with what happened in ’91 in Crown Heights. I remember it well, have family in the neighborhood and was there myself for part of the melee and in the days following. It was anti-semetic hooliganism primarily on the part of tbe West Indian immigrant crowd. Sharpton had nothing to do with it.

  2. Al Sharpton is a racist bigot, but so is Rush Limbaugh, and in the case of the NFL, Rush called it a league resembling the crips and the bloods, when talking about professional athletes who are among the most gifted athletes in the country.

  3. YonasonW and veryinteresting, you are both wrong. veryinteresting, those comments that are attributed to Rush do not exist. I listen to Rush

  4. YonasonW and veryinteresting, you are both. very interesting, those comments that are attributed to Rush do not exist. I listen to Rush all of the time for many years. Rush employs as his call screener an African-American. The quotes that are attributed to him are out right lies. That is why his brother David Limbaugh started writing letters demanding a retraction. The comments about slavery and the Crips and the Bloods aren’t true.

About you YonasonW, nothing that you are posting is true. Both me and my husband have many, many friends in Crown Heights. My husband has stayed extensively over Shabbos in Crown Heights. I visit there along with have stayed there for Shabbos. We are not Lubavitchers by a long shot but are willing to befriend another Jew. The rioters were not West Indian immigrant crowd and Sharpton did go in there and incite the riot. There is extensive video footage along with photos depicting exactly what happened. That is why Norman Rosenbaum is willing to defend Rush.

But, YonasonW, you remind me of Jay Jacobs, the Jewish chairman of the New York State Democratic Party. Does the idea of an Orthodox Jewish female registered Republican bother you? Are you afraid that I will be able to convince other Jews to change their party affiliation and de facto destroy the Jewish party base? You want to know something, I think whatever you posted about yourself having family in Crown Heights is an outright lie.

The only reason why you would want to marginalize me and depict me as some crazy, empty headed yenta is to destroy my credibility in the vain hope that other Orthodox Jews will ignore me. You have done it to yourself with your deceptions and arrogance.

  5. Flatbush Bubby (#4): Gee – I’m shaking in my gartel.

You sound paranoid (“…I think whatever you posted about yourself having family in Crown Heights is an outright lie…” “…The only reason why you would want to marginalize me and depict me as some crazy, empty headed yenta is to destroy my credibility in the vain hope that other Orthodox Jews will ignore me…”)

Has it ever occured to you that if our families got together we all might get along wonderfully. I have Yeshiva friends, close and dear friends, who think I’m politically nuts – as I think they are – but we love each other as Yidden.

I am calm, confident and comfortable with my political affiliation, with my education and with my Torah. People can differ without getting into heated accusations. Tease me if you want, as I surely tease you – but please calm down.

    Peace

  6. Notveryinteresting, you are a liar; Limbaugh is not a bigot, and it is utterly slanderous to compare him to Sharpton. As for the NFL, what exactly about being a “professional athlete” or a “gifted athlete” makes someone immune from being compared to gangsters? Do you think athleticism is some sort of sign of character? Don’t you think gangsters are athletic too?

  7. Flatbush Bubby:

I’m with you on this. I have listened to Rush for years and have never heard him ONCE say anything racist (or anti-semitic for that matter). Heck, he even has blacks (Like Walter E. Williams) guest host for him. Would a racist do that? Blacks and liberals revile him and call him racist because he simply doesn’t “buy” their argument that whites are responsible for all the ills of the black community.

I also agree with you that Al Sharpton was, at the very least, responsible for fanning the flames of the Crown Heights riots: He marched up and down the streets with his trademark bullhorn exclaiming “Whose streets? Our streets!” and calling the yidden “diamond dealers.” The man is an anti-semitic thug and riled the crowd into a frenzy of violence reminiscent of the porgroms of the past.

It’s time yidden woke up and understood that the greatest anti-semitism comes from the political left, not the right.

    Kol hakavod.

  8. For the record, I agree with TorasMosheEmess when he says “….It’s time yidden woke up and understood that the greatest anti-semitism comes from the political left, not the right.”

  9. I LIVE in Crown Heights. I was very involved after the riots. And I say…Al Sharpton made things a thousand times worse. He came in just to keep it all going. He led a march down Empire Blvd on Shabbos to instigate trouble. He fired up the crowds of Blacks & kept stoking the flames of hate. If you watch the video of him on the Jackie Mason Show (& I was up there, on the stage, with fellow activists like Dov Hikind, Bruce Teitelbaum (later Giuliani’s Jewish Liaison) Jeff Wiesenfeld (aide to Gov. D’Amato)etc. you’ll hear his parting shot: No justice, no peace.

Rush Limbaugh is an egotistical, smug, self- righteous pain in the neck. And he is absolutely dead right on this.

  10. #3 and #4, I too, listen to Rush because he is on when I am traveling at the same time during the day. I listen for the entertainment value and to wonder how someone with a thinking disorder can have so much airplay. Not only is Rush a racist and a bigot. He is slob and rarely misses an opportunity to make a pass at female callers who are someone else’s wife and even speak about their husbands on their phone call.

  11. #3 and #4 Part 2

Now if you want to talk about Michael Savage or Bob Grant, THOSE are broadcasters who are worthy of respect.
