Tri-State Braces For Days Of Wet & Windy Weather

weather.gifForecasters are calling for several days of wet and windy weather as two storms bear down on the East Coast. Places of higher elevations in New York and New Jersey might even see some snow.

The National Weather Service says onshore winds will increase throughout the day Thursday, posing a risk to tree limbs and power lines.

Forecasters say northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph could gust to nearly 60 mph.

Forecasters say the wind and rain will allow tides to rise through Friday.

Widespread minor tidal flooding is possible Thursday evening and moderate tidal flooding is possible Friday. Coastal areas of New Jersey and eastern New York, especially Long Island’s southern shore, will be more vulnerable to significant flooding.

Forecasters are concerned the storm, coupled with another over the weekend, will prevent the tide from draining until early Monday.

CBS 2’s Meterolgist John Elliott is calling for pretty miserable conditions overall on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will be nearly 20 degrees below normal across the tri-state.

The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Watch from Thursday night through Friday morning for nearly all of the tri-state.
