Back in July, Fox 5 reported how the city’s traffic agents were ticketing motorists because of inspection stickers that were peeling off windshields–even though the decals themselves were defective and the NYPD knew about it.
Now the DMV is admitting that millions of registrations stickers are also defective and are peeling off because of faulty adhesive. The strange thing is, according to the DMV, is that the stickers were created by different vendors.
Parking ticket judges know about the problem and have been tossing tickets issued to drivers. The NYPD says it has instructed agents and cops to use discretion before writing tickets for this violation.
The DMV will replace your faulty sticker for free.
