That same john wilson?
who owns the property?
probably some heimish guy renting to trash after the gedolim forbid this.
Officer Wilson recently ticketed a lakewood hatzolah member for blocking a crosswalk while on an emergency call for a pedestrain struck.
He refused to drop the ridiculous charges and tickets, and decided to challenge hatzolah in court.
I believe yeshiva world news had reported this incident.
Nonetheless, our prayers and thoughts are with the officer and his family.
Thank You LPD for giving it your all to keep the bad guys at bay.
We are behind you all the way.
Wishing the Officers a swift recovery!
Thanks for what you do!!
i hope my neighboor greg the nicest guy in the world is ok and the other officers i hope the animal that shot these wonderful guy is put to death
Our prayers are with you LPD especialy your team head Lt. Greg Meyers. Iknow him for many years. Amodel of a police officer well deserving to be Lt. Hope to see you continue to move up the ranks as you sure deserve. Your non assuming and tactic way and a true freind of our community we wish you a speedy recovery together with your fellow officers.
Speedy recovery Lt. Meyer-
It is him who often drives around Raintree in his unmarked car in middle of the night (off duty I may add)keeping our neighborhood safe-
number 2 – why are you bashing heimishe guys – maybe he has different gedoilim than you
our hearts are with the LPD and their families. We thank them for trying to make Lakewood safe and getting rid of the drugs and gangs.
Lt Greg Meyer is a special person always warm, friendly and caring for all residents of Lakewood.
A speedy recovery.
may g-d send a speedy recovery to all the police officers!
Why is the police department doing the job of the swat team? The police doesn’t have machine guns like all drug dealers have. I wish them all a speedy recovery!
Speedy recovery to Lt. Meyers and Officer Wilson. I know Greg and his family personally. He is a great and caring neighbor. A few things from the comments that did catch my eye however. 1) It was a SWAT team that raided this animal’s house. 2) Is the fact that Wilson ticketed a Hatzolah ambulance at all relevant? No! It is time to look beyond petty, inferred slights and appreciate these heroes for the work they do everyday in keeping us and our families safe! G-d bless them and the LPD.
The eyes of the world are on us now. A link to this story is on Google News’ main page.
gershonovitz: What’s your point? There’s a time and a place for everything. We are all praying and hoping for the complete and speedy recovery of the LPD officers. We have nothing but deep appreciation for their efforts to protect this vital community from all the changes that have come to this town.
#13, a SWAT team does not usually do executing a warrant. This is a police function, unless it’s known ahead of time that the suspects are heavily armed.
A full and speedy recovery to all the involved officers and comfort to their families.
Thank heaven there are police officers.
#13, This probably WAS a SWAT operation. The SWAT team is made up of officers who otherwise have regular LPD police duties.
A speedy recovery to ALL the officers injured – from a grateful Chestnut Resident.
And a message to the unscrupulous landlords: I don’t care who your Rabbi is, or what kind of heter you may have gotten. GET THE CRIMINALS OUT OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!! I know times are tough, but there are decent tenants, Jewish or non Jewish, that would come rent in your properties if you fixed them up a bit.
Greg is the best cop around! i love the guy!
he is thank god doing ok,GSW to the foot, and is having surgery to remove it! feel better greg!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the owner of the above property, the one that hosts armed gang-bangers in a frum neighborhood, is feeling very good about himself today.
I hope when he davens on Yom Kippur for parnassah b’nachas v’heter, he has alot of kavanah!
It’s reprehensible, how yidden can just rent out houses in FRUM areas to such criminal elements and sleep well at night.
The only way this will stop, is if we get groups of people to picket in front of every such landlord in Lakewood. Make them a bit uncomfortable, and they will start to see things a bit differently. We need to emulate the LAC and create an organization that will focus grass roots activity on these landlords.
Maybe in the aseres yemai teshuva, there will be a hisoireres on the part of these types, to clean up their act, so Hashem will grant them a good year.
I won’t hold my breath though!
the community has to understand that these “people” selling “stuff” are all over, get rid of one,six more will pop up. you never know who is doing it,i do not think its fair to be bashing the landlords here.
the lakewood authorities are trying their best to crack down on these ppl ine by one,its tedious and dangerous…let us thank the officers that took the bullets, they were helping us,and yes-now one of these guys is behind bars. kuddos to the LPD and may the officers have a speedy recovery, thank you for protecting us!
“Nonetheless, our prayers and thoughts are with the officer and his family. ”
I agree. What the officer did was stupid and foolish, but the penalty for stupidity and foolishness ISN’T supposed to be death or dismemberment! I will have all the injured officers in my prayers.
If you go to taxrecords dot com and plug in the address (note that it’s mackenzie, not mckenzie), you will find the name of the owners. I shall not print the names here, but let’s just say they’re Jewish names.
Police Officer Jon Wilson and his family are dear friends of mine and Jon happens to be one the kindest and most caring person on this screwed up earth. Why not just hand out guns – free of any cost – you just have to guarantee to shoot someone – anyone – but shooting a cop, especially a dedicated one with a beautiful family – wife and 4 children well that would be great and big plus would be if the cop happened to be black. I am really ticked off reading that Jon wrote a ticket and wouldn’t drop the charges – too damn bad – here’s guy that puts his life on the line every time he puts his uniform on. I happen to be Jewish and I totally disagree with the favors that the Jewish population of Lakewood NJ not only expect, but DEMAND from the Town officials and the Police Dept. WHY? G-D’S CHOSEN PEOPLE? But the G-D that I pray to, would never acknowledge any of this from his people! Never, ever! To my dear friends Jon, Sabrina and children I say to you in my faith – L’Shana Tova and may you all be inscribed the Book of Life for another year! SHALOM!
#26, phew, did you happen to notice that that was 1 comment out of 26 and every other one made NO mention of that ticket incident, other than to perhaps protest that comment.
No I don’t think that this was a sensible place and time to bring it up. But what YOU said is right? Why, because someone insulted your friend? Too damn bad, it doesn’t give you a right to go repeat silly rhetoric and baseless lies, even though you know good and well that the overwhelming majority are unassuming and don’t expect any special consideration (favors in your words).
y r u giving the landlord a bad rap – the guilty party is the criminal
Maybe they should leave SWAT to the Ocean County Sheriff’s dept. SWAT takes a lot of training -you usually don’t have time to do regular police work and SWAT. I don’t understand why Lakewood needs their own team. And if they do- that’s all they should do. Watch AETV’s SWAT teams and you’ll see that they don’t do anything else and when they aren’t performing their SWAT duties- they are training. I know this personally because I once took a course given by NJ State Police TEAMS Instructor (NJ Teams members do SWAT, Scuba and Technical Rescue). They spend a lot of time training. As a matter of fact they didn’t get called for their services too often. This is due to the fact of multiple agencies doing the same thing. Why do you need a local, county and state agency that performs the same functions? It’s time for Lakewood to rethink their need for their own SWAT team.
It takes a grave event such as this to bring the community to the reality that LPD is not just about traffic enforcement.
The SWAT team responds to many calls that normal patrol officers are not trained to handle, and yet not necessary for outside agencies.
Without the SWAT team in LPD, you would not be able to sit comfortably to post your comment.
You should take the time to explore what police work is all about, and that SWAT teams do not appear overnight. I am sure they are implemented with lot of planning and approval.
Lt Meyer is a great guy and a great officer, but also is Patrolman Jon Wilson. He was shot in the head and refused to leave his fellow officers at the scene. Yes, he refused to go to the hospital until he knew that all was well with ALL his coworkers.
Please recognize all 4 of the officers who were shot, all who saved the lives of the others at the scene, and then all who were not at the scene, because they all experience traumatic ailments during these type of events.
