A group of anti-Zionist Ultra-Orthodox Jews protested outside the UN building in New York against the indictment of a Jerusalem woman who allegedly starved her toddler son.
The mother, a member of the extreme Neturei Karta sect, was accused, among other things, of disconnecting her son’s feeding tube while he was hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.
The woman’s arrest sparked a series of violent haredi riots in Jerusalem.
Demonstrators waved signs reading, “Hadassah has instigated a crusade against all Jewish mothers Haman-style of getting even with Mordechai.”
Rabbi Nahum Samson Meyer, head of the “True Torah Jews against Zionism” said prior to the rally, “Our hearts are pained over the Israeli government’s campaign to throw an innocent Jewish mother into prison in order to cover up for their hospital’s mistreatment of her son.”
“The United Nations has always taken up the cause of oppressed peoples around the world. We have come here to publicize the cry of our religious brethren who live under Zionist state oppression,” he said, referring to haredi claims of police violence during protests in Jerusalem against the mother’s arrest and the opening of the Karta parking lot on Shabbat.
“As Netanyahu tells the world his views on the Middle East crisis, we wish to make clear that his state, which presumptuously calls itself Israel, has no connection with the Torah or with Judaism,” Rabbi Meyer added.
“He and his fellow Israeli leaders have no right to speak in name of Jewry. Their long record of oppression and abuse of our community prove it. We call upon President Obama and all the esteemed leaders of the world not to recognize the Zionists as leaders of the Jewish people.”

Ynet news is an extremely anti-Torah source, though they occasionally have frum colunists in their equivalent of op-ed pages.
Please remove the words “Torah True” and “Orthodox” from these ppl .. it is a CHILLUL HASH-M.. Stop airing dirty laundry in PUBLIC.. pure unadulterated Lashon Hara during Aseres Yemei teshuva no less. shame!
I agree totally with these protesters. They should not have to live under the oppressive Zionist state. They can take a short drive to Gaza and live with their like minded brethren.
I trust these people never go to the kotel, Ma’arat ha’Machpela, or Kever Rachel. After all, these holy places were liberated from their yishmaeli friends by the “Zionist army” and they certainly would NOT want to benefit from anything done by them!

When you say the Avoidah on Yom Kippur describing how we lost so much when the Mikdash was destroyed we can now think how low Klal Yisrol has fallen. To have such incredible Bittul Torah during the Aseres Yemai Teshuva is despicable.
Satmar has obviously lost their way. A true tragedy.
#6 Clarification to correction #2. That was once true before Satmar split. Now, almost all Aaroinim are against the Neturei karta, but a good part of the Zaaloinim are not; as the Benei Yoel, and “Svartza Satmarer” as they were once called, are now full fledged Zaaloinim. When the Satmarer rebbe, Reb Yoel was alive, posters of the Neturei karta would have been torn down from Satmarar botei midroshim, now the Neturei karta posters to protest, are hanging in Satmarer botei medroshim and NOBODY tears them down.

#9 frielach – The yishmaelim that neturei karta likes to pal around with, to hug and kiss, are described by “G-O-D” as “pereh adam”, they are brutal murderers of Yidden. Get the hatred out of your heart and recognize that there are only two kinds of Jews, – those that are frum, and those that are not frum YET. Yes -there are MANY BIG problems with much of what the Israeli government does, but this demonstration will not help solve those problems even one tiny bit. All it WILL DO is give fuel to the anti-semites and cause more devisiveness between Jews.

The Pavlovian negative reaction of Neturei Karta types to every action taken by Israeli society only serves to further alienate secular Israeli Jews and they come across as a lunatic fringe that need not be taken seriously. May they should try a little ahavas yisroel. They can learn a lot from a tzadik like Rav Yitzchok Dovid Grossman.
AinOhdMilvado – Obviously you don’t know much about Satmar. They actually don’t go to those places or even the Shtachim for exactly the reasons you gave!

While all Jews are brothers, looking at Neturai Karta hugging murderers of Jews, and agreeing with Achmadinajad about the Holocoust, I can’t call these people my brothers. I may not agree with some views of some Jews, but they go too far.
