Levaya Of Rav Yisroel Moshe Berman ZATZAL

candle913.gifYWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Rav Yisroel Moshe Berman ZATZAL of Boro Park at the age of 91. Rav Berman was the Menahal for many years in Stolin Yeshiva in Boro Park. Additionally, he was a well known Magid Shiur, and gave a Mishnayos Shiur every day in his home for over 50 yrs.

Due to his Shiurim, thousands of Talmidim finished Shisha Sidrei Mishnah with him.

The Levaya will be held at 3:00PM in Shomrei Hachomos Chapels on Fort Hamilton Parkway in Boro Park, and the Kevura will be in Eretz Yisroel.

Boruch Dayan Emmes…

  1. Prior to Stolin, he was the Menahal for several years in Yeshiva Bais Yitzchok (Skver). He was also the Menahal in Bais Yaakov of Williamsburg elementary school in the 50’s. He was indeed a Tzadik. I believe that he was born in Maine and then went to Eretz Yisroel to learn in the mid 30’s. May he be a Mailitz Yosher for his thousands of Talmidim & Talmidos.

  2. His Mishnayos Shiur was legendary! I joined for just a year and a half. We did Seder Kodshim (and some Taharos) one year, Moed and Nashim the next. His shiur (for free) was for 365 a year – weekdays, Erev Shabbos, Shabbos, Yom Tov, Erev Yom Kippur, Yom Kippur. He even gave shiur right before his daughter’s Chasuna! (In the later years he took a break for the immediate Purim season due to some naughty boys…)

I may not be wrong in stating that he was a Rav Muvhak to us. The Kinyan HaTorah we got from this shiur stayed on, and helped us immensely through Gemerah and beyond – hence ROV CHOCHMOSO MIMENU.

The way he conducted his shiur, his Hasbara, the Chazara system he utilized, made it so unique! How I miss it. Many Mishnayos I still remember today.

    He will sorely be missed.

  3. In a generation where smacking and whacking was in style, I remember him as some who would glet dee bak, as opposed to frask dee bak!!

  4. Alas, I didn’t make it to his shiyur. There was talk that I should go, but it never materialized. I’m reminded of this as I see he is no more. Tehei nishmosoi tzeruro bitzror hachaim.

  5. I fondly remember him from Bais Yitzchok. I will never forget his pleasant demeanor and miseekus. He was a mechanach par-excellance, and was from the few in those days who knew that a knip on the cheek spoke many more volumes than a smack, and accomplished far more

  6. BORUCH DAYAN HOEMES! OVAD CHOSID VETZADIK MIN HOARETZ! I”M SURE THAT HE WAS TAKEN TO SHAMAYIM TO BE A MAILITZ YOSHER FOR KLAL YISROEL ON THE UPCOMING YOM KIPPUR?
Reb moshe zatzal was my mishnayos rebbe after school hours about thirty five years ago. we learned every day of the year including shabbos and yom tov. we never felt we missed out on anything because we had to go to the shiur
