To Friends and Constituents of Agudath Israel:
As we all know, Gedolim of previous generations in America, as well as those to whom we look to for hadracha today, consider the privilege of voting in our malchus shel chesed to be of great importance for our community.
Tomorrow is primary day in many jurisdictions. In New York City voters will choose the Democratic candidates for mayor, controller and public advocate, for example. Manhattan Democrats will also be choosing their candidate for district attorney; and Queens voters will be choosing a Democratic candidate for borough president. A variety of City Council nominations are up for grabs as well. It is extremely important that we as a community make our voices heard, especially in these difficult times when we look increasingly to our government leaders to safeguard our most basic rights and protect our most vital insitutions.
I urge you to make every effort to get to your polling station – polls will be opening city-wide at 6:00 a.m. and will be open until 9:00 p.m. – and cast your votes.
As a tax-exempt charitable organization, Agudath Israel may not endorse any particular candidate. We urge you to familiarize yourself with the candidates and choose the ones you think will best represent the interests of the community.
However, whichever candidates you choose to support, your vote will enhance the standing of our community. Government officials look at which groups vote. Communities that vote are listened to and heard. So please, whomever you may vote for, vote!
Many thanks – and best wishes to one and all for a kesiva va’chasima tova.
Chaim Dovid Zwiebel
Executive Vice President
Agudath Israel of America

Am I the only one who doesn’t like describing the US as a “Malchus shel Chesed”?
It’s not a “malchus” and the nature of its benevolence is not “Chesed”, it’s justice.
I prefer “Medina shel Tzedek”.
Either way, it is manifestation of of Hashem’s chesed toward us, and we should show our appreciation by doing our part.
Malchus??
Chesed??
Which planet are you living on??????????//
sammygol – I am ROTFL!!!
But seriously, how are we supposed to make heads or tails of all of the confusion, when YWN reports directives from ‘Dass Torah’ saying both ‘Vote’ and ‘Don’t Vote’!?!
We need the Mechaber or M”B to decide between the shittos.
Or put the matter up to a vote…
He is right we need to vote, the question is for whom? that is for you to decide.
