9:45PM EST: Two Shuls & a wedding hall have just been evacuated in Deal, NJ following bomb threats.
Sources tell YWN that the Brothers Of Israel Shul (“Ashkenaz Shul”) as well as the Congregation Ohel Simcha – both located on Park Avenue – have received bomb threats, and police have evacuated the buildings. The Sifrei Torah from both Shuls have been removed as a precaution.
At Congregation Ohel Simcha, there is a wedding ongoing, with approximately 400 people in attendance. Eye-witnesses tell YWN that the singing and dancing continued in the street in front of the Shul/Hall. Gracious neighbors have now opened their large back-yard across the street, and the crowd has moved there amidst much Achdus and singing & dancing.
Hatzolah of Jersey Shore is staging at both locations, and police from Long Branch, New Jersey State Police, Homeland Security & NJ Transit Police are on the scene with bomb-sniffing-dogs.
Further details will be posted shortly.

It was amazing, the neighbor opened their backyard for he wedding and everyone piled in it was sooo nice I don’t even know the couple but I went anyway (because I live right there) with my friends and we were dancing it was so amazing!! Most of the chatan and kallahs friends left so hundreds of people from the syrian commmunity went to make them happy!! And a DJ from the community rushed to the neighbors house to set up music! It was really really soo nice!! Now they just moved the wedding back to the shul!!

The nicest wedding, I came after all of the commotion and couldn’t have made the bride happier! What a way for the community to pull together!!! May the couple build a bayit ne’eman byisroel! This will be a wedding i’ll never forget!!
Isn’t it so nice to be focusing on the positive Kidush Hashem that came out of the evening?
A crazy situation brought out the best in people. Also, special compliments to the Police Dept and Hatzalah who handled a difficult situation with professionalism and courtesy.
I was at the wedding from the beginning until the end and I have never seen such an amazing kiddush hashem in my life! The neighbors opened their backyard to STRANGERS! And they brought out sodas and waters from their home! People ordered chinese food and brought it over. Then a whole bunch of boys and girls from the community came and made the wedding beautiful and leibedik and to top it all off, when we finally went back in the hall (after 11pm), yaakov shwekey came and sang for the chosson and kallah! Truly a beautiful simcha! Kol hakavod to the Deal community! I’ve never been to Deal before, but now I see what I’m missing!
