WASHINGTON — Dozens of New York yeshivas are keeping kosher with the help of government “pork” — winning grants of up to $20,000 each for new commercial-grade kitchen equipment from federal stimulus cash.
The private Jewish schools are getting nearly $1 million statewide, while Catholic and public schools are also getting grants from $100 million earmarked nationally for “equipment assistance.”
Schools are dedicating the cash to big-ticket items. Some displayed a facility with math to max out their awards, like Bnos Chayil of Brooklyn, which got a food mixer, convection oven, and vegetable/potato peeler totaling $19,890.

One good thing about the “stimulus” plan.
