TONIGHT – NYPD vs Hatzolah!

bba.jpgAt 7:00PM today (Monday), the smell of kosher hot dogs, cut grass and the sounds of cheering crowds will be heard in the world famous Coney Island Keyspan Park – as the NYPD PBBS Division will “play ball” against Flatbush Hatzolah in a charity softball game. The game was organized by the NYPD PBBS, and will be open to the public.

Flatbush Hatzolah has been playing weekly summer baseball games against various NYC agencies – such as NYPD and FDNY to foster a spirit of camaraderie and friendship. These ball games have successfully enhanced the unique relationship between the various agencies and Hatzoloh, and gives all a chance to “get out of the work uniform” and further enhance the important partnerships and understanding that the community can really count on. While always competitive, the games have been enjoyed by all.

Precinct commanders rave about the dividends paid off and Brooklyn South Boro Chief Fox himself places great importance on this ongoing successful community interaction.

This game will naturally be for fun – but will also be played with another objective -a community Kiddush Hashem.

Flatbush Hatzolah has decided to change the setting of the game from a standard NYC park, to play the game at the beautiful Keyspan Park home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.

The event will be charging a small entrance fee, and thus far more than $15,000 has been raised towards the PBA widows & children’s fund, and $15,000 towards local G’machs.

Tickets will be available at the door for only $10.00 per person. The game is scheduled for 7:00PM, but the gates will open at 5:00PM. Kosher hot dogs & other food will be available as well. (Keyspan Park is located on Surf Avenue at West 16th Street in Coney Island.)

Discounts are available for groups and/or camps, by calling 718-376-1900. The time of the game is early (7:00PM) and really affordable.

Photos of this exciting game will be posted on YWN.

  1. The main ideas behind this game are the continued cooperation between NYPD and Hatzoloh and the success of a worthy campaign and program. We shouldw ish hatzlocho for both these things.

  2. Does anyone know if this is sold out? I already have tickets, but I am hoping to be a friend and I do not want to buy scalped tickets for a NYPD game as I will likely get caught very fast. Also , whats the hecsher for the hot dogs?

  3. Perhaps if the frum yidden in Eretz Yisroel would “play ball” with the police there, they would also view the frum yidden in a favorable light.

  4. Amen. But among Israeli Charedim, playing ball is certainly assur, even for those fellows who are a long way, nebich, from ever succeeding in learning.

  5. #6 –
We get along with American police because they, like most Americans, are part of a society that welcomes traditional religions and was founded as “a nation under G-d”. “Freedom of religion” is at the core of American culture.

Zionism is based on the idea of freeing Jews from the yoke of Torah. They abide by the European style “freedom from religion.” Our continued existence, in spite of zionism having liberated the Jews from the old-fashioned ways of the past, is an on-going insult and challenge. To hold that frum Jews are anything else other than misguided relics of the past calls into question their core beliefs. Talking about “play ball” with the avowed secularists of the zionist movement is as rational as saying we could have “played ball” with the Gestapo.

  6. #10 – you just equated the Israeli Police with the Gestapo.

    I support you.

I’m probably just about the only one…. may Hashem help you through the wave of negative comments you’re about to receive.

  7. #5 & #10
Building bridges is a worthwhile endeavors yet there has to be desire from both communities. Organizations like Yad Sarah, Hatzalah Israel and particularly MESHI (started and run by the tzaddikesh z”l Rebbetzin Lifsha Feldman), the CHICKEN lady, Paamonim have bridged difference. Rabbi Grossman from Migdal Haemek is a genius in relationship building.
Your constant barrage of pre-state, post-state, zionist mantras have lost its luster as many join the ranks of traditional jewish observers.

** The latest photo op of NY NK Rabbis visiting Gaza (through Egypt) proves the point that bridges can be built if DESIRED by divergent groups for a common purpose (destruction)

  8. I agree with 6 & 7 and disagree with 10.

Look at the kiruv movements who spesificly “target” police and soldiers, such as chabad and you will see a whole different attitude to them, even with their beards and black hats.

Which brings up another point, why do Aish, O.S etc only target Americans in Israel, why is only Chabad roving around the kibutzim and army bases etc to find our lost bros and sis souls?

  9. #13 – clean was Shamaya Rosenberg. – he just became a member. coincidence? – i dont think so…at least he got the job done. if not for him, it would have been a joke.

  10. Hey. who won? how many innings did the hatzalah and NYPD’s pitchers go. how many K’s? what was the score? any SB’s? any HR? and triples? double play? triple play? hit for the cycle? and boos? who were the pitchers? closers? how is NYPD’s bullpen?

  11. To #9. Why are you on this web site if you’re concerned with bitul zman? Mum shebecho etc.

(I love these self-righteous individuals preaching to others!)
