Unsurprisingly, the money gap in the mayoral race remains massive.
According to newly released figures, Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s top political rival, William Thompson, has raised just $200,000 over the last two months, for a total of more than $5 million.
Thompson, the city’s comptroller, has spent $2.4 million of what he’s raised.
The mayor, who is self-financed, has already spent $36.6 million of his personal fortune in his re-election bid.
Queens City Councilman Tony Avella, a third candidate, raised just $11,000 over the last two months for a total of $259,000. He has spent $202,000 of that amount.
