YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Hagon HaRav Sholom Menashe Gottleib ZATZAL (98), Rosh Yeshiva of Bais Hatalmud (in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn).
The Levaya will be held in Yeshiva Bais Hatalmud today (Wednesday) 2127 82nd Street between Bay Parkway & 21st Avenue at 1:00PM. The Kevura will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
Beth Hatalmud was founded in 1950 by Talmidim of the Mirrer Yeshiva of Poland (known as “Alter Mirrer”) in the East New York section of Brooklyn. It was later moved to its current home in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. Some of its past Roshei Yeshiva were Hagon Rav Aryeh Leib Malin ZATZAL, Hagon Rav Chaim Visoker ZATZAL, Hagon Rav Binyomin Zeilberger ZATZAL, and Hagon Rav Yisroel Perkovsky ZATZAL.

Some of it’s past roshi yeshiva’s…..and what about the late rosh yeshiva hagoen hatzzadik R’ Shaul Brus zt”l is he completely forgotten already?

It is well known that Rav Elchonon Wasserman Zatzal Hy”d used to come to the Mirrer Yeshiva to talk in learning with the Bochurim, and would take long walks with Rav Sholom Menashe as he enjoyed the Kishronos and Lomdus that he posessed.

dear #1 Rabbenu Shaul Brus ZTZL was a gaon and a tzadik. However, his title was never Rosh Yeshiva at Beis HaTalmud. He was brought in by R’ Leib Malin to teach the younger bochurim 16-18. He had his own beis medrash upstairs in the Beis HaTalmud building. The roshie yeshiva here were the roshi yeshiva downstairs in the main beis medrash. There is no zizul here.

#4- I heard that the Rosh yeshiva you mentioned was called “Reb Lazer Hagodol”.
Wasn’t there also a Rosh Yeshiva there named Rav Kaplan? (I’m not from BH so I don’t remeber the first name).
May they all together be mailitz yosher on all of am yisroel, and stop all the tzoress and sickness among am yisroel today and bring the geulah sheleima BB Amen.
