Prosecutors want to throw the book at Bernard Madoff, mastermind of a $65 billion Ponzi scheme.
In a sentencing memo filed today, the government asked that Madoff be sentenced to “150 years or, alternatively a term of years that both would assure that Madoff remain in prison for life, and forcefully would promote general deterrence.”
Authorities allege that 1,341 account holders suffered a loss of $13.2 billion from December 1995 until Madoff was arrested in December 2008.
The 71-year-old Ponzi scheme mastermind is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday in Manhattan Federal Court. His defense attorney had argued for a much lighter sentence of a dozen years.

If it’s really $13 Billion, why still use the old $50+ Billion figure?
What good is it to lock him away for life?
Let him get a decent job with a minimum wage to start paying back these billions.
