Albany, NY – Chaos at the Capitol continues. After a governor-mandated special session turns into a display of dueling sessions, just adding more confusion to an already complicated process.
Both Senate Democrats and the Republican-led Coalition say they held their own versions of the special session. Both also claim to have passed key legislation put forth by the Governor.
The episode does nothing to clarify who controls the Senate.
Both sides still have not reached a power sharing agreement and it’s not clear whether the so-called passed legislation will stand up to expected legal challenges.
Governor Paterson says the senate has added a governing crisis that only exacerbates the state’s current financial crisis.
“I’ve been a public servant here for 20 years. What I’ve seen in the last two weeks disgusts me. The Senate’s inaction is a dereliction of service. They have clearly forgotten who they serve. They have clearly forgotten who they serve,” the Governor said.
Sen. Ruben Diaz, Sr., who has railed on Gov. David Paterson before, released the following press release slamming Paterson.
“Today’s Senate Session was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever experienced.
Yesterday, New York Governor David Paterson bragged to the media about how the leaders of the Republican and Democratic Conferences asked him for more time before calling Special Session and then how he told them, ‘No!’
Much to our surprise and amazement, Governor Paterson called for Special Session and was not ready to present any bill to the Senate for debate nor vote. Why is Governor Paterson wasting the taxpayers money and peoples’ time?
Today’s Session has been another incompetent act of Governor Paterson. Governor Paterson had the look of failure on his face when he made his statement yesterday. Now I understand why.”

#1 – Given the old Tammany tradition, that the president in Iran got well over 100% of the vote seems “right at home”.
But “seriously”, what’s wrong with my idea of inviting the North Korean’s “Beloved Leader” to address the New York Senate – they would get along fine.
This headline unfairly insults clowns
For this our taxes go up, up and up!
The joke is on us! What a shame!
#3 is right. Clowns are just trying to make you laugh. Comedians don’t make public policy. Groucho Marx never tried to run a country. Is it our fault we have a confused sort of Marxist running the government?????
THERE’S NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT A DRUNKEN CLOWN–WHEN HE’S PILOTING A B-52 BOMBER!
