YWN EXCLUSIVE: NYPD Arrests Hispanic Male Who ‘Attacked’ Frum Woman

ywbn17.gifThanks to the fast response by the NYPD, an “attacker” was arrested following another troubling incident on Friday night in the heart of Boro Park.

Sources tell YWN, that a Frum woman was “attacked” by a Hispanic male in the vicinity of 17th Avenue and 53rd Street close to midnight on Friday night. The woman was Boruch Hashem able to run away following the incident – which occurred on the open street.

The NYPD was contacted, and following an amazingly fast response, and thorough investigation, the suspect was apprehended and arrested a short while later.

Inspector DeBlasio of the 66th Pct, Brooklyn South Chief Joseph Fox, along with Inspector Theresa Shortell, of the NYPD Special Victims Bureau – must be publicly thanked for their personal involvement throughout the night in this incident.

The victim made a positive ID on her attacker, and he was placed behind bars.

This arrest follows another arrest just 3 days ago of a suspect in a Boro Park abduction – reported exclusively by YWN (HERE).

These incidents come on the heels of a highly-praised meeting held at the Misaskim Headquarters in Boro Park two weeks ago (reported HERE on YWN), which was attended by more than 40 administrators of local Bais Yaakov’s & Girls Schools, to discuss the dangers of child predators preying on young children on the streets of highly populated Orthodox neighborhoods.

  1. What was this woman doing on the street alone at that time? Sorry, that’s crazy. I hope she’s OK, if somewhat traumatized. But if a woman has to be out late at night, she shouldn’t be walking alone.

  2. bestbubby, you obviously are not familiar with the streets of boro park. it is usually very safe even for a female to walk the streets of boro park at that hour of the night, especially friday night, and especially when the zman is so late. she is not crazy and this can occur and has occured in broad daylight in flatbush too.

  3. Some of us are alone, bestbubby.
If someone invites us for the seuda, we appreciate it.
After we eat we have to go home.

Boruch Hashem the perpetrator was caught.

  4. Broad daylight is NOT midnight. IF these things happen in daylight, as they do, what do you think is going to happen late at night?

To #3: if she was with someone, I think the report would say. And it’s unlikely a sicko would try to attack 2+ adults. Kids, yes. My understanding of this is she was alone. Do you know differently?

  5. When we have single ladies over for the Seuda, my husband walks them home with one of our sons. That’s respect & a concern for their safety, #4. Obviously, my husband is a rare breed: a gentleman.

  6. I am surprised that the article doesn’t mention the fact that the “attacker” was actually caught by the many people from the Community that chased him & finally managed to hold him down until the Police arrived.

  7. I think it’s wise and appropriate for women/girls and children to always have a chaperone when in public, even moreso at night.

I’m becoming concerned about the extent that spanish speaking non-jewish males are becoming pervasive in our communities (chiefly because they are apparently the least costly labor resource). Friends of mine who understand spanish, tell me that many of these spanish speaking non-jews speak between themselves in extremely unpolite derogatory ways about Jews. I think we are being short sighted in many instances of hiring people we don’t know enough about (i.e., no background checks). Therefore, knowing that this has been happening, I think people should be more cautious and conscientous about these situations involving such vulnerability (sekona).

  8. this stuff happens daily in South Africa but the perpetrators are never caught.no lone women or child would walk alone at night.

  9. I agree with BestBubby, no one from my Seuda would walk home alone at 12 midnight or any other time. That is a safety issue, no matter where one lives.

#8 I know what you mean, we have that issue out here on Long Beach, LI; the hotels and businesses hire these ‘work for a day’ types and then we have the displeasure of their drunken rants on Shabbos.

  10. Why doesn’t anybody report the facts first she was not walking home alone she was walking home with her daughter second its boro park when does this ever happen this guy thought she had money and tried to rob her a half a block from bochurim standing at the corner they saw what happened and start running after him yelling chaptzem the goy living on the block called police a couple of other guys came out a caught him until police came I hate when readers believe what they read right away she was not alone

  11. whether u ahve nowhere to eat or whtvr the reason is and u r invited alone somewhere, or the nieghborhood is known to be safe etc—- LADIES!!! dont walk during the late hours alone!!!!!!!! ask someone to come with u , or walk u home!

  12. I wonder if it will ever be possible to have a discussion about crime without all the bigotry. It doesn’t matter if he was an illegal. So are half the Israelis living in NYC. And friends of mine who understand English tell me that gasp, there are quite a few frum people who speak in a derogatory way about gentiles…
