HaGaon Rav Karelitz Shlita May Travel Abroad to Assist Chinuch Atzmai

kar.jpgIt appears that as Chinuch Atzmai’s resources continue to dwindle, HaGaon Rav Nissim Karelitz Shlita may leave Eretz Yisrael for the first time, to travel abroad in an effort to assist.

Rabbonim have been meeting this past week to discuss the situation, as well as to fund travel abroad for senior rabbonim, who they hope will succeed in bailing out Chinuch Atzmai.

Rabbonim this week met with HaGaon HaRav Aryeh Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Michal Lefkowitz Shlita, and Rav Karelitz Shlita, with the latter surprising them, explaining if the situation is indeed critical, he would be willing to leave Eretz HaKodesh for the first time in his life towards assisting the cause.

Over the years, Rav Karelitz has refused to leave Eretz Yisrael on numerous occasions. The rabbonim expressed their hope that Chinuch Atzmai will not face an existential threat that will compel Rav Karelitz to leave Eretz Yisrael.

  1. Given the current economic situation in the world, and in the United States and Great Britain in particular, the problems are likely to get worse. The only “Olam ha-Zeh” solution is to “pull in our belts”.
