Today (Sunday) is the annual Boro Park Shomrim “Crime Prevention & Safety Day Event”.
The event which attracts a large crowd each year will have, bike registration, child identification program (search rescue program), and home registration. There will be a free raffle for two bikes and there will be many free giveaways including ice cream, drinks, nosh, and many prizes for the children.
The bike registration takes only a few minutes, and the results are seen each year – with more than 100 bikes being returned in the past year alone!
More than 2,500 bicycles were registered last year, with more than 5000 people attending the event.
The patrol has been doing a Bike Registration Day every year for the past 13 years – and has really caught on in the last few years, with thousands of children and adult bicycles registered.
The carnival & rides will start at 1:00PM, and the bike registration will be held from 3:00PM – 7:00PM.
The event will be attended by Shomrim, the NYPD, FDNY, NYC parks Department, and DOT officials, and will be held at 5202 18th Avenue (in the big lot).

Carnival, rides, and free gifts galore–a mammon fest, all to encourage people to do what any idiot would want to do to protect himself from one of the most dangerous crime neighborhoods in the entire world.
In my neighborhood of Jerusalem 10-year-olds wait for buses home alone in the middle of the night and nobody thinks twice about it. Yes, we are poor. We can’t afford bikes and treats for kids like they can in Boro Park…but…
Think about it…
