Authorities say the man charged with killing a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum will likely survive the injuries he suffered when other museum guards returned fire.
FBI Supervisory Special Agent Katherine Schweit said in a written statement Saturday that government lawyers told court officials that James von Brunn (vahn BRUHN’) “was in critical, but stable, condition with an expectation of survival.” They made the statement Thursday when von Brunn’s case was called for an initial appearance hearing.
The 88-year-old von Brunn — who was shot in the face — is charged with murder in the Wednesday shooting of 39-year-old security guard Stephen T. Johns.
The hearing was postponed until von Brunn could be present, and a lawyer was appointed for him.

He is 88 years old – and he got shot in the face. His isurim have only just began. HaShem has his way of showing the world AN EYE FOR AN EYE. He will have gehinom here and gehinom after he dies. The question is ….. will they transport him back to Germany after he is convicted to serve his sentance there?
As others have said, the choice of putting “Shucks!” in the headline is both very childish and very unprofessional.
Besides for being inappropriate in and of itself, since none of the typical YW stories, whether happy or, R”L, not so happy, have emotional comments preceding the headline, it follows that this one should be no different.
And I, too, believe it is a chilul Hashem, too, which is, lichaora, the greatest reason to change the headline.
Please change the headline to a more professional and befitting statement that does not desecrate Hashem’s holy Name.
although this is a very sad thing, and the verdict was that the good guy: dead, bad guy: alive, this might be a good thing! we have to wonder why hakadosh Baruch Hu would do this? maybe, the investigators will be able to look into the case, hereby preventing future cases like this to hapen!

FOR SURE! but, i am disagreeing with the fact that this might unlock some very big secrets! the government might be able to ‘make him talk’, then release some confidential information!
His son, Erik von Brunn, said in a written statement to ABC News, “I cannot express enough how deeply sorry I am that it was Mr. Johns and not my father who lost their life.”
The shooters son can wish death upon his own father, why can’t we do the same…

Please please take down that headline. If you have done any research on this crazy man you would have uncovered that one of his strongest arguments for anti-semitism is that jews want the deaths of gentiles (he uses a gemera in Sanhedrin wrongly).
Even if it is correct there is no reason to bring negative focus onto us by posting that headline and allow his friends to feel justified.

I asked the former this Shabbos in Shul if they did anything “special” for the rotzei’ach when he woke up, like perhaps peering over him and saying, “welcome to Gehennom.” But, the team elected to be more professional about it.
GW Hospital did put out a press release stating that the shooter was being attended by a diverse medical team consisting of Jews, Aftican-Americans, and other minorities.
That probably caused the rashah more agmas nefesh than his wounds.

Well, maybe he survived only so we can watch him in the “electric chair”, and he can serve as a warning to the other knuckleheads of his ilk. This was as premeditated a murder with the added element of a hate crime, as one can be.
