Bloomberg: Homeless in Luxury Condos Won’t Last Too Long

Homeless families who hit the jackpot by landing in luxury condos in Brooklyn shouldn’t get too comfortable, Mayor Bloomberg recommended today.

“We’re not going to let people just sit there. This is a transition thing. We want to move them out,” the mayor said of the spanking new unsold units in Crown Heights leased to a non-profit by desperate developer Avi Shriki.

“And if they say, ‘Oh, I love this here, I don’t want to try something else,’ I’m sorry, that’s not the whole intent here.”

Bloomberg pointed out that the city is getting a steal in the depressed market by paying $90 a night, or $2,700 a month, which is the going rate for much less fancy digs.

  1. Mayor Bloomberg is correct in pointing out that the city pays 2700$ a month regardless of the quality of the apt, and therein lies the problem.
