NY Home Prices Down 12 Percent

home1.jpgHousing prices continued to plummet across the New York metropolitan area, where single-family homes fetched, on average, 12 percent less in March than a year ago.

Nationally, sales prices for homes fell 19 percent, according to the Standard & Poor’s Case-Shiller national index released yesterday.

For the second month in a row, the average sales prices in 20 metropolitan areas around the nation did not set a record decline.

“Based on the March data, however, we see no evidence that a recovery in home prices has begun,” said S&P’s David Blitzer.

  1. Let’s pray it goes down at least another 12 percent. Scratch that. At least 40 percent, then maybe hard working couples can afford to buy a home for their family.
