[PHOTO LINK BELOW] Serious concerns about the “destruction and desecration” of the ancestral Jewish cemetery in Toledo, Spain, by construction and archaeological research prompted a New York Congressman to arrange for representatives of UJCARE and Representatives of the United States Commission for the Preservation of Americas Heritage Abroad, to meet with Spain’s ambassador to the United States at the residence of the Satmar Rebbe Shlita of Kiryas Yoel.
At issue, are the disturbances of Jewish graves during the building of a school in the city of Toledo, Spain, and the return of the remains of more than 100 Jews that archaeologists have excavated – which are currently in storage.
The Spanish Ambassador Mr. Fernando Villalonga, told the Satmar Rebbe that the Spanish government is working out an agreement with municipalities on procedures to follow when these issues arise in the future. Mr. Villalonga also told the Rebbe that the government is in the process of returning all skeletons from the Toledo cemetery for re-burial before the end of June 2009.

Kudos for the Satmar Rebbe Reb Aaron, with all the Mosdos and Yeshivas he is building all over the world, he still has time to be busy with the issue of Grave Diggers in Spain, that is a real Manhig Yisroel!!!
If the Spanish government is working out an agreement, Why did they need a protest?
Poshiter Yid: It wasn’t a protest it was an “Atzeres Mechilla” (prayer of forgiveness) for the desecration of the bones that was dug out from the graves, and since an agreement was reached by the Satmar Rebbe (above) to return the bones there was no need to make a protest on the outside street
