White House to Release Photo From New York Flyover

fs11.jpgThe White House plans to soon release a photo from the controversial Air Force One-style flyover of Manhattan last week, despite claiming earlier that there was no need to release any official images from the incident.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Wednesday that an internal report will probably be completed this week.

“We’ll release its findings and release a photo,” he said.

That was after Gibbs indicated Tuesday that the White House would not release any images.

“I’ve watched CNN,” he said at the time, noting the considerable coverage from amateur footage. “I didn’t notice a lack of archival material from that flight.”

The flyover triggered panic among New Yorkers as well as the internal review by the Obama administration.

Officials last week sent an Air Force One backup plane to fly over lower Manhattan to capture the presidential plane with the Statue of Liberty in the background. The public was not notified in advance that there should be no cause for alarm.

Some New Yorkers were reminded of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, sparking chaos as employees evacuated office buildings and inundated emergency call centers to raise the alarm.

President Obama soon after denounced the photo-op, which cost $328,835, calling it “a mistake.”

  1. $ 328,835. for something any amateur computer designer can do in 15 minutes.
    Obama at his best.
What is this compared to 1.3 Trills.

  2. I am sick and tired of the power trip this obama has with everything. Why was it necessary for the people to beg and grovel for these pictures?!

I’ll tell you why. It has to do with his power trip. Give someone like him some power and he runs with it.

    Happy Sinko de’quatro Mr Prez!

  3. Will they doctor the photos and cut out the pictures of the panicky New Yorkers running into the streets of lower Manhattan? Or are they going to superimpose His Royal Highness’ picture on them, the Annointed One, the Messiah, L’Havdil.

  4. Hey Barack,

You can keep your miserable pictures.

First, you throw thousands of people into panic.

Then, you deny that you had anything to do with it.

Then when everybody starts yelling & screaming (rightfully so), you say, “OK you can all have a peek at my pictures.”

Please, please, just be quiet and stay inside.

And will you get rid of this guy Gibbs already? He sound like a ninth grader who didn’t study for his farher.

    (Shew, I feel better already)

  5. You all really think that this kind of money was spent for a photo – op. why would the gov tell us the truth. it’s obviously a cover story for something else they don’t want to reveal. most people will buy the photo-op story. what were they really doing up there? hmmmmm – anyone got any ideas?

He is releasing the pictures because everyone was screaming to see them for some reason.

The articles I read show that he acknowledged that it was a mistake.

Take the tin foil hat off. I’m pretty sure getting a private jet to fly somewhere and take professional photos goes for a little more than pocket change.
