PHOTO LINK BELOW: The chareidi community of Mexico on Wednesday received a letter from Hagon Rav Shteinman Shlita, expressing words of encouragement from the Gadol HaDor during the difficult flu epidemic in that country.
According to a report in the daily HaMevaser, the Mexican chareidi community maintains a close contact with Maran Rav Shteinman since he visited the community. Rav Shteinman recently received a request from leaders of the community, asking what they should be doing in response to the outbreak of the pandemic.
Leaders of the community have been working to encourage community members who are having difficulty coping with the fears surrounding the outbreak. It is reported that some talmidim from Mexico are already planning to spend their summer break in Eretz Yisrael, to learn in the Kedusha of the Holy Land.
The Rav wishes the community well, stating we cannot know Hashem’s ways but anyone increasing Torah and acts of chessed can only assist towards emerging from the situation. The Rav stressed chessed, and to improve regarding getting along with one another and avoiding conflict.
Rav Shteinman calls for increased Shmiras Shabbos and Torah learning with the children on Shabbos, “and to be cautious to avoid chilul Shabbos, to learn, fathers and sons, and among yourselves…”
