Summer-like weather has arrived.

Temperatures Saturday reached a high of 88, which fell short of the record 91 set back in 1915, but exceeded the average high for this time of year, which is 64.

“That record will stand, but Sunday the record is only 84,” CBS 2 HD Meteorologist Elise Finch says. “We are going to duplicate our temperatures in the upper-80s, so we will likely be breaking records.”

A high pressure system to the south is funneling in warm air from the south and the west.

“We’ve got an area of high pressure that is just off shore, and that is really what’s keeping things very warm for us,” Finch says.

However, there’s a cold front to our north that could move in Sunday and act as a trigger, bringing possible thunderstorms to the tri-state in the evening.

It’s still going to be a great, summer-like day with high temperatures and loads of sunshine. Stay tuned for updates on the possibility for precipitation and stormy weather Sunday night.

The warmth will continue on Monday. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s. Again, the record high of 92 is probably out of reach.

Even Tuesday looks like it will be warm, with more beautiful skies and a highs in the mid 80s.

Keep in mind, the normal high this time of year is in the mid 60s.

Our next chance of rain will hold off until Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Tuesday: High 83, Low 58
Sunny. Highs in the lower 80s.

Wednesday: High 68, Low 56
Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers. Cooler with highs in the mid 60s.
