CBS 2 HD reports that lawmakers in Albany have failed to pass the state budget before a midnight deadline.
Lawmakers have called it a night. They’ve all gone home.
It seemed that the Democratic-led Assembly would pass the budget by midnight Tuesday night, but it stalled.
This is the third straight year that state lawmakers have failed to pass a budget by the April 1 deadline.
Republicans have been questioning the plan that carries a $131.8 billion price tag.
So the debate will continue Wednesday.
New York’s budget has been late 23 times in the past 25 years.
